Community Ownership
About
The region of Vineland, where the Go Center is located, is part of an estate owned by BamBam Sachertorte and Zarf Vantongerloo. They pay the bills to Linden Lab for the land.
While they are happy to support the Go Center, it is clear that only through wider community support will the Go Center be able to evolve and grow, eventually expanding into additional regions. Having community members own land here is one of the best ways to guarantee the long term success of the Go Center.
Shares
The Go Center takes up 3/8ths of the region. The remaining 5/8th is divided into ten shares. Shareholders get a good sized parcel for their own use, and support a portion of the Go Center:

This set balances the interests of the Go Center, the Community and the community members that choose to support it this way.
Cost
To own a share, you to pay a monthly fee to the estate owners. It is this fee that covers the maintenance costs for the region.

This may seem a little steep for 4,096 sq. m. of land, but remember that the share supports a portion of the Go Center as well. When compared against other 1/10th of a region plots both on the Mainland and on other estates, these numbers are quite reasonable.
Note: L$ rates are based on the current LindeX exchange rates, and fluctuate as the market does.
Notes
BamBam Sachertorte and Zarf Vantongerloo will continue to own the region, and take responsibility to pay the maintence fees.
Land ownership is covered by a covenant that ensures reasonable and fair use of these shares. The shareholder parcel land does not need to be used for Go related purposes, but it must be consistent with sharing a region devoted to Go. Please see the covenant for details and examples.
